Join us for “Developing an Improv Mindset to Deal with Uncertain Times,” an interactive program with Jo Chavin!

In times of uncertainty – whether due to career changes, job searches, or personal challenges – the ability to stay present, adapt quickly, bounce back from failure, and act swiftly is invaluable. Improv teaches skills that mirror those needed in such times.

Applied Improv is based in theatrical roots, but without being particularly fanciful. It uses improvisational theatre principles and techniques in non-theatrical settings such as business, education, and leadership development. Exercises may focus on flexibility, being present, collaboration, innovation, problem-solving, and, especially, communication. They may give participants insight into how others act and react, what body language is indicating, and how they communicate.

Our program leader, Jo Chauvin, combines improv with career coaching to help clients advance a conversation, actively listen, provide details, and deal with mistakes. Improv tenets can build resilience to deal with uncertain times and provide some clarity about personal values and career issues.

During this program, you’ll be asked to participate in exercises fully with cameras and audio on. You will be well supported and won’t have to do anything particularly silly. It is absolutely not possible to make mistakes. There will not be any pressure to say the “right” thing – because when you’re making things up on the spot without a script there is no “right” thing. Come be brave with us, try something new, and learn why/how applied improv can adjust your mindset when it comes to career challenges and other issues.
